We attended the premier startup conference Bits & Pretzels for insightful presentations, exciting visions and unique networking events!
Bits & Pretzels is a three day festival which aims to unite founders and innovators involved in the ever expanding startup scene. The conference took place from 25th – 27th September 2016 during the world famous Oktoberfest at the Internationales Congress Centre in Munich, Germany. Over 5,000 attendees were present at the festival, including our team from goedle.io.
Throughout the festival there was a variety of different presentations and enlightening talks by some of the world’s leading international industry experts. This years iteration of the festival certainly boasted an all-star list of speakers including: Richard Branson – Founder of Virgin Group, Kevin Spacey – Oscar winning Actor, and Nathan Blecharczyk – Co-Founder and CTO of Airbnb, who are all heavily involved in the startup industry and gave their thoughts on how the landscape will change over the next year. We personally enjoyed the insightful presentation from Neil Patel of KISSMetrics who discussed essential methods which all businesses should employ when promoting their product and taking the correct measures to ensure that people love it. Another talk which was a favourite of ours came from Florian Gschwandtner, CEO of Runtastic, who discussed the necessary steps companies need to take to ensure that they have an outstanding team of employees.
Bits & Pretzels isn’t just about the presentations and talks, there is also the opportunity to network with like minded entrepreneurs and even conduct business meetings. We at goedle.io looked to build from our experience at the Techstars Demo Day and were involved in lots of networking and impromptu business meetings. One interesting networking event which our team partook in was the smart company pitch battle, which was really insightful for us as we were able to check out the sales techniques of other companies in our field. The three day festival is also the perfect opportunity to meet up with friends in the sector, both old and new, like our close friends Patya-Analytics who also took part in the pitch battle with us.
Of course, one of the reasons that we at goedle.io attend these conferences is to analyse the current state of the start-up community and check out how other successful startups are moving forward. Over the past few weeks we have been heavily focussed on developing our next iteration of our product, Kurt, and we are working in close collaboration with a selection of our key customers to achieve the ideal end product we have envisioned. In light of this, it is reassuring to see that most successful startups follow the same mentality as we do – listen to your customers and your business shall prosper.
To conclude the festival, there is an extravagant party which entrepreneurs from across the digital landscape are invited to attend. This unique Bavarian themed event is held at the famous ‘Schottenhamel’ tent at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Attendees are invited to wear traditional Bavarian Lederhosen and Dimdl at the event, ensuring a fun atmosphere to the festival closing. In addition to the traditional dress code, Bits & Pretzels also orchestrate enticing conversations for each attendee as they have implemented a ‘Table Captain’ for each table at the party. Table Captains are typically well-known, successful people from the industry and stimulated interesting conversation throughout the final event at the festival. The party at Schottenhamel was a perfect end to a very well planned and stimulating conference. We would like to commend Felix Haas and the rest of the Bits & Pretzels team for the impressive event and we already planning our return visit for 2017!
